Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
Candidates must fulfill any one of the following criteria:
- Diploma or equivalent in Coaching from SAI NS-NIS Patiala or any recognized Indian/Foreign University
OR - Participation in Olympics/Paralympics/Asian Games/World Championship with Certificate Course in Coaching
OR - Dronacharya Awardee
Salary Structure
Selected candidates will receive salary under:
Level 6 Pay Matrix
Rs. 35,400 – Rs. 1,12,400/-
(Pay Band-II Rs. 9,300–34,800 with Grade Pay Rs. 4,200)
Age Limit (As on 01 February 2026)
- Maximum Age: 30 Years
Age Relaxation:
- SC/ST: 5 Years
- OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 Years
- Ex-Servicemen: As per Government norms

Selection Process
The selection process consists of two stages:
1️⃣ Computer Based Test (CBT)
- Duration: 2 Hours
- Total Questions: 100 MCQs
- Negative Marking: 1/4th mark deducted for each wrong answer
Subject Distribution:
- Sports-Specific Knowledge – 65 Marks
- Sports Science – 25 Marks
- General Awareness, Reasoning & Aptitude – 10 Marks
Candidates will be shortlisted for the next stage in the ratio of 1:3 (three candidates per vacancy per sport/category).
2️⃣ Coaching Ability Test (CAT)
- Weightage: 60% in final merit
- 40 Assessment Parameters
- Minimum qualifying marks required
Final merit list will be prepared based on:
- 40% CBT Score
- 60% CAT Score
Examination Centres
The CBT will be conducted in major cities including:
Delhi, Lucknow, Chandigarh, Bhopal, Gandhinagar, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bhubaneswar, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Thiruvananthapuram, Guwahati and Imphal.
General Instructions
- Only Indian Nationals can apply.
- Candidates must produce original certificates during document verification.
- OBC candidates must provide Non-Creamy Layer certificate in prescribed format.
- Government employees must submit No Objection Certificate (NOC).
- Selected candidates can be posted anywhere in India.
- Providing false information will lead to disqualification.
